Sheryl Crow [ tickets ] will put her music where her mouth is this fall when she gives away free digital downloads of her latest album to fans that get their friends registered to vote.

Aside from the free download of the singer's "Detours" LP, which is limited to the first 50,000 fans who take her up on the offer, Crow is teaming with Rock the Vote to give out unlimited downloads of her song "Gasoline" to anyone who signs up for the organization's mailing list. More details can be found at the website that Rock the Vote has set up for the effort.

"I have been involved with Rock the Vote since its inception and proud of the work they have done," Crow said in a statement. "There are such critical issues facing our country, from high gas prices to climate change that we need to do more then just register to vote, we need to get our friends registered too."

Crow is currently on the road supporting "Detours," a tour that continues tonight (8/21) in Valley Center, CA. Her full schedule is included below.

The singer's sixth studio album hit stores in February and snagged the No. 2 spot on The Billboard 200. The set marks her reunion with producer Bill Bottrell, who helmed her Grammy winning, seven-times platinum 1993 debut, "Tuesday Night Music Club."

So far, "Detours" has spawned four singles, including the pop/adult hit "Love is Free" and Crow's latest single, "Out of Our Heads," the video for which which is streaming at her website.
