Classic rockers Van Halen [ tickets ], whose 2007/2008 tour with original frontman David Lee Roth was a box-office bonanza, reportedly plan to record new music with the singer and hit the road for more live shows.

"We are a band--it wasn't just a one-off tour we did," guitarist Eddie Van Halen is quoted as saying in the latest issue of Rolling Stone magazine. "We had a lot of fun on the tour--Dave was a blast. And next time we go out, we're going to have some new stuff, too.

"I've got tons of music written, such a variety of stuff," he continued, noting that he plans to meet with Roth this summer to play him demos of the new material. "The essence of me is obviously there, and those drums, they're always recognizable. But people expect a certain thing from Van Halen, and this isn't exactly bang-your-head-against-the-wall stuff."

Other revelations contained in the interview include Eddie's affirmation that his son, Wolfgang Van Halen, who replaced original bassist Michael Anthony during the band's Roth-helmed tour, is a "permanent part of Van Halen," and will be graduating from high school in June; and news that Eddie will be marrying his girlfriend/publicist Janie Liszewski that same month.

Van Halen hasn't released an album of all-new material since 1998's "Van Halen 3," its one and only set with short-lived frontman Gary Cherone (Extreme). The group's nostalgia-themed 2007/2008 tour with Roth reportedly grossed more than $93 million, earning it the distinction of being the most lucrative outing on the band's lengthy and storied career, according to Rolling Stone.
