Bruce Springsteen preps for tour with Asbury Park rehearsals

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band are spending time on the Jersey shore, rehearsing material from their latest album, "Working on a Dream," in preparation for their upcoming spring tour.

The rock band began rehearsals last Wednesday (3/11) at Asbury Park, NJ's Paramount Theatre, according to fansite Backstreets.com, working through "Outlaw Pete," "My Lucky Day," "What Love Can Do," "This Life" and the latest album's title track. Springsteen's wife and bandmate, Patti Scialfa, joined in the following day, when the group played "Good Eye," "Life Itself," "Kingdom of Days" and three other tracks from the album.

Drummer Max Weinberg's son, Jay Weinberg, also attended last Thursday's practice, sparking rumors that he's planning to fill in for his father sometime during the tour. The elder Weinberg helmed the house band of NBC's "The Late Show with Conan O'Brien" in New York, and will make the transition to O'Brien's new hosting gig with "The Tonight Show" in LA, which begins this summer.

The closed rehearsals last week covered only new material. No word yet on the possibility of rehearsals opening up to fans, though if the prep work before past tours is any indication, Springsteen fans might get a chance at an inside look in the days leading up to the tour's April 1 kick-off.

In the meantime, Bruce Springsteen will be a guest on Comedy Central's "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" Thursday (3/19.)
