Jewel sings 'Lullaby' along West Coast
Jewel will hit the road this summer for a brief West Coast tour behind her forthcoming album, "Lullaby."
The two-week trek kicks off July 17 in Mesa, AZ, and passes through 10 cities before concluding July 31 in Portland, OR. The jaunt includes a two-night stand July 24-25 at LA's Hollywood Bowl. Details are below.
The singer/songwriter will unveil her eighth studio album, "Lullaby," May 5 in partnership with Fisher Price. The 15-track record, which features 10 original songs and five childhood standards including "Somewhere Over the Rainbow," marks her first independent release.
Jewel, who relinquished her spot on this season's "Dancing With The Stars" due to injuries suffered just prior to the show's kick-off, first gained notoriety for her 1995 debut, "Pieces of You." Three of the pop record's singles--"Who Will Save Your Soul," "You Were Meant For Me" and "Foolish Games"--reached the top of the charts.
The songstress transitioned to country with her seventh release, last year's "Perfectly Clear." Produced by John Rich of country duo Big & Rich, the album debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's Country Albums chart and the lead single, "Stronger Woman," also made waves on country singles charts.
Meanwhile, Jewel's husband--rodeo cowboy Ty Murray--continues competing alongside professional dancer Chelsie Hightower on season eight of ABC's "Dancing With the Stars." Murray and Hightower are currently one of six couples remaining; seven pairs, including Jewel's replacement, Holly Madison, have been already been eliminated.
In related news, Jewel has teamed with FTD to offer a special Mother's Day bouquet dubbed the "The Jewel Lullaby Bouquet." The bouquet comes with an autographed copy of "Lullaby." More information is available at FTD.com.
Fans can check out Jewel's website for details about a Mother's Day contest, for which two grand-prize winners of which will receive the deluxe "Jewel Lullaby Bouquet" and a personal Mother's Day phone call from Jewel; 10 runner-up winners will receive the standard "Jewel Lullaby Bouquet."
