Springsteen to play Giants Stadium's swan song
Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band have been tapped as the final major musical act to play New Jersey's Giants Stadium before the venue is retired.
The Boss announced last night (5/21) during a concert at East Rutherford, NJ's Izod Center plans for a 3 three-night run at Giants Stadium set for Sept. 30, Oct. 2 and Oct. 3. Tickets go on sale June 1, according to a press release.
Giants Stadium--part of East Rutherford's Meadowlands Sports Complex, which comprises the stadium, the Izod Center and the Meadowlands Racetrack--is scheduled to close at the end of the 2009 NFL season. Springsteen holds the record as the No. 1 top-selling artist at the Meadowlands, boasting 56 sold-out shows with the E Street Band to date, according to his publicist.
Tomorrow night (5/23), Springsteen and company will cap off their spring 2009 North American tour with a second engagement at the Izod Center. They'll then spend much of the summer on a European outing, details for which are available at Springsteen's website.
