Stone Temple Pilots to headline inaugural St. Jude rock series
Stone Temple Pilots will kick off the first concert in a nationwide series dubbed the St. Jude Rock 'N' Roll Show, which aims to raise money for the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
The reunited rockers will take the stage July 1 at Los Angeles' House of Blues, along with LA-based support act Kingsize. Performances by other rock groups will be scheduled at House of Blues locations throughout the US in the coming weeks, with proceeds from the shows going to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, the only pediatric cancer research center where families never have to pay for treatment that isn't covered by insurance.
Tickets for the event go on sale Saturday (6/6).
"We are humbled, honored and filled with grace by being given this very special opportunity," STP frontman Scott Weiland stated in a press release. "Let this be a night of hope and a night of faith and maybe even a little providence."
Stone Temple Pilots, which has celebrated 15 Top 10 singles and won a Grammy Award for 1994' s "Plush," released the band's most recent album, "Shangri-La Dee Da," in 2001. The group mounted a full-blown reunion tour last year, and has a handful of dates lined up for this summer.
Weiland released his sophomore solo album, "Happy in Galoshes," last November.
