Branford Marsalis Gallery Spotlight: Boston, MA - Sept. 23, 2009

For New Orleans native and Grammy Award winner Branford Marsalis , becoming a jazz musician was almost a foregone conclusion. Alongside siblings Wynton, Delfeayo and Jason, his musical education began early by way of his pianist/teacher father Ellis Marsalis Jr., and was fine-tuned later at the Berklee College of Music.

To date the saxophonist and composer has recorded with a staggeringly long list of big names including jazz legends Miles Davis , Dizzy Gillespie , Herbie Hancock and Sonny Rollins . He's also worked with Harry Connick, Jr. , Tina Turner , Sting , Bela Fleck , and Bruce Hornsby , to name a few.

Tomorrow, (9/26) Branford Marsalis will be headlining the 2009 Indy Jazz Fest in Indianapolis, IN. His current tour is slated to last through February of next year. LiveDaily photographer Peter Keeling attended his show in Boston on Wednesday (9/23) and here are some of his best shots
