West Coast fans of Aimee Mann [ tickets ] have one more week to catch her live in concert during her fall tour. She's been on the road in support of her 2008 release "@#%&! Smilers" which not only debuted at No. 32 on The Billboard 200 but also peaked at No. 2 on the Top Independent Albums chart.

In a statement on her website, Mann explained that the term "smilers" is something of a lampoon aimed at the unrelentingly smiley-faced aspect of pop culture. "I read an article that said that across all cultures, the single thing that people respond to most is a smiling cartoon face." Among the many contributors on the album are singer/songwriter Sean Hayes [ tickets ], who does a duet with Mann on the track "Ballantines," and author Dave Eggers, who adds some whistling to the tune "Little Tornado."
