Sade beefs up tour route, taps India.Arie for opening slot

emailSade has more than doubled the size of her North American tour itinerary, which now extends into early September. The singer has also shuffled some previously announced dates, added second-night stands in several markets and named the opening act for her tour.
Changes to the tour’s roster include the shuffling of the previously announced July 17 and 18 tour stops in Mountain View and Concord, Calif., respectively; the Concord show is now set for July 17 and the Mountain View show for July 18.
The previously scheduled July 21 Las Vegas concert has been pushed back to July 27.
Second-night stands have been added in Los Angeles, Rosemont, Ill., and New York City.
On-sale dates for all of the newly added tour stops have been set. Details appear in the itinerary below.
R&B newcomer India.Arie--whose debut album “Acoustic Soul” (Motown) was released in late-March--has been slated to open for all of Sade’s North American tour stops, with the exception of the newly added July 22 Los Angeles performance; the latter date will feature African worldbeat musician Youssou N’Dour in the opening slot, according to Sade’s official website.
Sade is set to mount her first North American tour in nearly eight years in support of last year’s “Lovers Rock” (Epic). The album debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 album chart, and has sold over 2.8 million copies to date, according to industry sources.
