Mariah Carey, R.E.M., others sign on for 'Today' show concerts
Mariah Carey , R.E.M., Jewel , Annie Lennox , Matchbox Twenty and a number of others hit the streets of New York during "The Today Show"'s 2003 concert series.
Additional acts scheduled to perform outdoor concerts on the early-morning program include Sugar Ray, Train, Beyonce Knowles, Ashanti, Shania Twain, LL Cool J, Amy Grant, Brooks & Dunn, Alanis Morissette, Alan Jackson, Michelle Branch and Sting, according to NBC.
The concerts--now dubbed the "Toyota Concert Series"--usually take place on Friday mornings at Rockefeller Plaza, outside of NBC's Rockefeller Center headquarters in midtown Manhattan, though there are exceptions. This year, Knowles is scheduled to perform on Tuesday, June 10, and Sting is scheduled to perform on Thursday, Oct. 2.
The 2003 series kicked off on April 18 with a performance by Fleetwood Mac. Streaming video taped during the show is posted at MSNBC's "Today Show" webpage.
The site also features video from previous years' "Today Show" concerts, including performances by Christina Aguilera, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, and others.
