CD Review: Norah Jones, "Feels Like Home" (Blue Note)

After selling more than 8 million copies of her debut album, "Come Away With Me," and winning five awards at the 2003 Grammys, piano-playing chanteuse Norah Jones has a lot to live up to with her second set, "Feels Like Home."

Featuring tempos and moods that are more diverse than its predecessor, "Come Away With Me," "Feels Like Home" is a truly satisfying experience. There's some jazz, some folk, even some country--and a duet with Dolly Parton.

Sure, Jones makes serious music. Her lyrics, however, are a different story. These songs are about sleeping late ("Sunrise, Sunrise") and walking on the beach ("Toes"). But let's face it, who needs poet-laureate-quality lyrics when you've got a voice like that? And on "Feels Like Home" Jones' voice is splendid. Her feel for a great melody goes a long way, too; just check out "Those Sweet Words" or the southern-flavored "The Long Road Home."

Looking for beautiful ballads that work on Sunday afternoon as well as Tuesday evening? Look no further than "Feels Like Home."
