After a five-day stay, Aretha Franklin reportedly was discharged from a Detroit hospital on Wednesday (3/24).

Her personal physician told Reuters that Franklin underwent treatment for a low platelet count, a blood problem that can cause hemorrhaging. The condition, which caused her to break out in a rash, could have been caused by a virus or an allergic reaction, the doctor reportedly said.

Franklin celebrates her 62nd birthday on Thursday (3/24).
