Briefly: Elton John, Peter Himmelman, Limp Bizkit, Jackson Browne
Elton John 's painted mug will appear on the outside 20 AirTran Airways jets beginning this week to promote the airline's launch of XM Satellite Radio in each seat.
Though the full financial details of the arrangement haven't been announced, John reportedly will receive a $50,000 check for the Elton John AIDS Foundation, as well as a 6-foot-long model of a jet.
"Imperfect World," the latest from singer/songwriter Peter Himmelman , is scheduled to hit stores March 29.
Among the guests who appear on the set are drummer Pete Thomas (Elvis Costello & the Attractions), bassist Sheldon Gomberg (Rickie Lee Jones, Beck, Ryan Adams), Jeff Young ( Jackson Browne , Donald Fagan, Sting) on Hammond B3, and Willie Aron (Victoria Williams, Balancing Act) on backing vocals.
Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst and once-estranged guitarist Wes Borland are at a recording studio in Prague, recording tracks for a new album with producer Ross Robinson, according to the band's website.
"Some days are explosive, others just plain heavy from the gothic aesthetic of this city in general," Durst wrote on the site.
No release date has been set for the as-yet untitled album.
Jackson Browne, Collective Soul and Michael McDonald are among the artists who will perform at "Hear and Now," a concert to benefit victims of the recent La Conchita landslide in California. The show is set for Feb. 12 at Santa Barbara's Arlington Theater.
