White Stripes roll out second leg of North American tour

Meg and Jack White have unveiled dates for the second leg of their North American tour behind their recently released album, "Get Behind Me Satan."

After tackling the previously announced first leg--which kicks off on the West Coast in early August and wraps up at the end of that month--the alt-rock duo will launch the tour's second leg Sept. 8 in Milwaukee and hit cities throughout the eastern half of the continent by month's end. An Oct. 2 finale in the pair's home city of Detroit caps the run. Details are included below.

Cincinnati rock trio The Greenhornes will hold down the opening slot for most of the run; Albuquerque-based quartet The Shins take over for the tour's late September stops in Brooklyn and Columbia, MD.

Before hitting North America, The White Stripes --divorced couple Jack White (guitar/vocals) and Meg White (drums)--will spend the bulk of the summer touring former Eastern Bloc nations, including Russia, the Czech Republic and Latvia. The full itinerary is posted at the duo's website.

Earlier this month, The White Stripes offered up "Get Behind Me Satan," which features the single "Blue Orchid." The set posted first-week sales of about 189,000 copies, enough to earn it a No. 3 debut on The Billboard 200 album chart.

"Satan" is the follow-up to 2003's platinum-certified "Elephant."
