Built to Spill touts 'Enemy' on fall trek
Alt-rockers Built to Spill have extended their tour schedule into late fall as the band prepares for the release of its latest studio album, "There Is No Enemy."
The new dates follow a few weeks after the end of the group's current leg, which continues Aug. 20 in Troutdale, OR. The fall outing kicks off Sept. 18 in Boise, ID, and runs through a date in Spokane, WA. Details are included below.
The group's seventh studio album, "There Is No Enemy," is due in stores in October. "It's pretty poppy, I guess. With lots of guitars," guitarist/bandleader Doug Martsch recently told Denver weekly Westword about the new record.
"I'm pretty excited about it," he added. "I don't know how it's going to come off, and whether it'll sound raw or polished. Hopefully, it'll sound more on the raw side. It's our first digital record, so that's why I'm a little bit concerned about it sounding raw."
The band's previous album, 2006's "You in Reverse," came five years after the release of 2001's "Ancient Melodies of the Future" and introduced guitarist Jim Roth and multi-instrumentalist Brett Nelson as full-fledged members of the group.
