Extended run for 'This Is It'
Michael Jackson 's "This Is It" will remain in movie theaters beyond its planned two-week run, according to various reports. The film, which reportedly has earned more than $100 million worldwide since its Oct. 28 release, will be extended in the US at least through Thanksgiving weekend.
The movie, which documents rehearsals for Jackson's planned "This Is It" concert series, ranked No. 1 during its opening weekend with a reported $21.3 million tickets sold in the US.
Despite the strong opening, the film fell $10 million short of the domestic opening of "Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert," the top-grossing music documentary film, according to a Yahoo News report. However, "This Is It" already has surpassed Cyrus' concert film in worldwide ticket sales, reportedly bringing in $101 million during its first five days.
