Mudvayne takes 'Game' on road in February
Hard-rockers Mudvayne launch a winter run of headlining dates in February behind the band's recently released fourth studio set, "The New Game."
The group kicks off the 12-city outing Feb. 3 in Waterloo, IA, with the Illinois-based band staying mostly in the Midwest during the trek. Dates are below.
In stores since November, "The New Game" is Mudvayne's first studio album of all-new material since 2005's "Lost and Found," which debuted at No. 2 on The Billboard 200 chart, and has sold close to a million copies to date, according to the band's record label.
The band worked with producer Dave Fortman (Slipknot, Evanescence) on the new set, which emerges after delays caused by frontman Chad Gray's and guitarist Greg Tribbett's tour schedule with their side project, Hellyeah.
"It's heavy and has great hooks, but it also has some moments that are a little more rock 'n' roll that are really cool," Fortman told MTV.com's Headbanger's Blog in September. "It's not anything drastic, but every now and then you’ll catch a little hint of old-school rock."
The band has already finished its follow-up to "The New Game," working again with Fortman on the LP, which might feature "even more of a metal approach on some of the songs to break it up a little bit," according to the producer.
The group hasn't yet decided on a release date for the record. "The schedule's going to depend upon how well 'The New Game' does," drummer Matt McDonough told LiveDaily earlier this month. "Tentatively, it would be nice to see the new record come out like, say, the end of next summer. I'd like to see it come out within a year of 'The New Game.'"
