The Moody Blues map East Coast excursion

Prog-rock veterans The Moody Blues have mapped out their traditional spring tour, this time focusing on the eastern half of the nation.

The iconic act--comprised of longtime core members Justin Hayward (vocals/guitar), John Lodge (bass/vocals) and Graeme Edge (drums)--begin the outing with a March 4 performance in Clearwater, FL, and spend a third of the 21-date excursion in the Sunshine State. Stops are also planned in Nashville (3/18), Atlanta (3/19) and Norfolk, VA (3/25), among others, and the road trip wraps with a two-night stand March 30-31 in Montclair, NJ. Details are included below.

The Moody Blues' most recent release, 2008's "Live at the Isle of Wight 1970," chronicles the group's August 1970 appearance at the Isle of Wight Festival before an audience of nearly half a million. Comprised mainly of 14 live tracks, the set is also available in a DVD format, which hit retailers in May.

The group hasn't released a new, non-holiday studio album since 1999's "Strange Times." (The Christmas CD "December" hit stores in 2003.) In early 2007, Lodge told a radio interviewer from the syndicated "Acoustic Storm" show that a new studio effort was "not far away."

During their more than 40-year history, The Moody Blues have had 18 platinum records and sold more than 55 million albums, according to the band's website.
