Def Leppard unveils mobile extras for summer run

With the start of their summer road trip just two weeks away, arena rockers Def Leppard have announced an interactive component to the North American trek.

The tour, which kicks off June 23 in Camden, NJ, alongside Poison and Cheap Trick , will allow fans the opportunity to access free Def Leppard content with their cell phones. Using Rockzimity, a marketing system based on the Bluetooth and Wi-Fi features of mobile devices, fans can access album-art wallpapers, video clips and voice-tones featuring members of the band.

"These unique fan interactions provide relevant, engaging opportunities for our fans," frontman Joe Elliott stated in a press release. "Def Leppard is committed to delivering a one of a kind artist-to-fan experience."

The interactive marketing technique will be used throughout the North American outing, which is slated to hit 40 cities from coast to coast through the final performance Sept. 6 in Devore, CA.

Along with standard tickets, several shows have Extreme VIP Meet & Greet packages available with proceeds benefiting the Raven Drum Foundation--a nonprofit that serves, educates and empowers veterans and people in crisis through the power of the drum--and other programs offered to active-duty military and their families, according to the band's website.

Def Leppard released its most recent album, "Songs From Sparkle Lounge," last spring. The record, which marks the group's 10th studio set, debuted at No. 5 on The Billboard 200.
