Alabama maps out farewell-tour itinerary

Alabama heads out on its "American Farewell Tour" in June, and will stretch its goodbye outing well into the fall.

So far, the tour is scheduled to run into late November, and tickets for most dates are on sale now.

In addition to regular ticket sales, the longtime country hitmakers are selling special "VIP packages" for the upcoming tour. Dubbed "Platinum Bama," the top-tier package sells for $1,000 and includes front-row seats, a photo with the band and a limited-edition, numbered and autographed Gibson electric guitar emblazoned with the tour's logo.

The group is also giving regular ticket-holders a gift; all fans who attend a farewell-tour concert will receive a free, full-color, 72-page tour book on their way out of the venue after the show.

Details about all of the VIP ticket packages are posted at the band's "American Farewell Tour" website.

The group's stage show will feature a "dazzling new set and state-of-the-art production," according to RCA Records.

Alabama's latest album, "In the Mood: Love Songs," landed in stores in early February. The set contains 21 of the group's previously released ballads, as well as two newly recorded tracks, titled "I'm in the Mood" and "The Living Years."

A streaming version of the "I'm in the Mood" music video is posted at the "American Farewell Tour" website.
